Suspension of Disbelief

Well I was going to write a long diatribe about what truth is, but I've decided to keep it short. Why? Because I'm on a bit of a sugar rush right now and coupled with a lack of sleep, I am having trouble concentrating for long periods of time. There are two truths. Absolute truth and local truth. The first can differ greatly from the second. But the second will eventually be replaced by the first. Absolute truth is an unbiased account of events, taking into account into all sides. Local truth is the truth of the moment. This is very common in politics. Each side of an argument gives "truths" to bolster their argument and both cannot be correct when they conflict. Truth has nothing to do with the beliefs of the person(s) in a power position. This is a common misconception. Why? Because if you can discern that the person(s) in power have certain beliefs, it means that you either disagree or know of another that disagrees. Either way, someone not in power, o...

In the past, I've been asked about being atheist and a bunch of other awkward questions somehow or another rotating around the issue. The mere question puts me in an uncomfortable quandry as no one who beleives as I do would ask such a question. So, I know from the outset that I am going to have to prove myself, to validate my opinion somehow. There is one issue I'd like to comment on, one that has a special place in the hearts and minds of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts: The new mantra of the neo-conservative minority: "Let the people vote." A noble idea. Let us let all the people vote. Why not? It's what the people want isn't it? Right? It's democracy after all? Is it not? Of course, in truth, by "the people" they (the neo-conservative think-tank) mean those who have their beliefs should vote. Not me. I might as well stay home. They don't want my vote on marriage. But they will get it, you be sure of that. I will gladly nullify one of their votes with mine. When it comes right down to it, we should not vote. None of us. This vote should not take place. Not now. Not ever. Why? Because it is a slippery slope when we play god with the rights of man. Let's take a practical approach....
